We Get It

Picking the Right Fireplace Can Be Confusing

You want something new, beautiful, and warm where there's something old, outdated, and cold. But fireplaces are confusing, it's hard to know what's even possible in your house, and it's easy to put the whole project off another year—while the winters here stay cold and wet.

We'll make sure you get the one you need. One free in-home visit settles what's actually possible, our own gasfitters and technicians handle everything from the permit to the first fire, and the next storm that takes the power out finds you warm.

If you already have a masonry fireplace and it's cold, sooty, or you simply never light it, an insert is the answer. It's a sealed firebox that slides into the opening you have and vents up the existing chimney through a new stainless liner. The brick stays, the mantel stays, and the hole that's been pulling heated air out of your house all winter finally closes.

More questions & answers

How much does a gas insert cost installed?

Less than a built-in fireplace, because the opening and the chimney already exist. The variables are the unit, the liner length, the gas line run, and whatever the chimney needs before a liner goes in. Get the instant estimate on any unit here for a real range, and we'll make it exact at the free in-home visit.

Does my chimney need to be lined?

Yes. A gas insert vents through a new stainless liner sized to the appliance, and that's not an upsell—it's how the appliance is certified to work and how it passes inspection. If the chimney needs repair first, we'll tell you before you order, not after.

Can you put an insert in a fireplace that's never been used?

Usually, and it's a good candidate. We'll inspect the flue and the firebox first. If the chimney has cracked tiles or water damage, that gets fixed before the insert goes in, and our chimney crew does that work too.
