What size wood stove do I need?

Smaller than most people assume. An oversized stove gets run low and slow to keep the room bearable, and that's exactly the burn that glazes glass and builds creosote. We size to the room, the insulation, and how open the floor plan is—which is why the in-home visit is free and worth taking.

Can a wood stove heat my whole house?

It can heat a lot of it if the floor plan cooperates. Open stairs and a central location do most of the work. Closed doors and long hallways do not. We'd rather tell you it'll carry the main floor and be right than promise the whole house and be wrong.

How often does it need servicing?

An annual sweep and inspection, which we do ourselves. Our technicians are CSIA certified. Burn properly seasoned wood and that visit is routine. Burn wet wood and it's the visit where we find out why the glass keeps going black.
