We Get It

Picking the Right Fireplace Can Be Confusing

You want something new, beautiful, and warm where there's something old, outdated, and cold. But fireplaces are confusing, it's hard to know what's even possible in your house, and it's easy to put the whole project off another year—while the winters here stay cold and wet.

We'll make sure you get the one you need. One free in-home visit settles what's actually possible, our own gasfitters and technicians handle everything from the permit to the first fire, and the next storm that takes the power out finds you warm.

A pellet insert puts hopper-fed, thermostat-controlled heat inside the masonry fireplace you already own. It vents up the existing chimney through a new liner, the brick and the mantel stay put, and the open firebox stops costing you heat and starts producing it—on a schedule, without anyone tending it.

More questions & answers

Will a pellet insert fit my fireplace?

Pellet inserts run deeper than gas ones because of the hopper, so the firebox depth matters more than usual. Plenty of masonry fireplaces around here take one, and some don't. We measure at the free in-home visit before anything is ordered.

Why are there fewer pellet inserts than pellet stoves?

It's a smaller category across the whole industry—fitting a hopper, an auger, and a blower inside an existing firebox constrains the design. What's here is what we stand behind. If none of it fits your opening, a pellet stove on the hearth is usually the next move.

Does it need power?

Yes. Like every pellet appliance it needs electricity for the auger and the fan, so it stops in an outage without a battery backup. If backup heat is the priority, a wood insert does that in the same fireplace.
